Prime Minister should resign over controversial English Module: Namal

Colombo, January. 3 (Daily Mirror) - Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, who is in charge of the Ministry of Education, must resign over the controversial Grade 6 English Module, rather than the resignation of a Ministry official, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa said today.

He told reporters that the head of the committee has resigned over the incident and said it is the Prime Minister who should resign as she had appointed the head of the committee and she is in charge of the Ministry as well.

MP Rajapaksa said it is absurd for the Ministry Secretary to lodge a complaint with the CID claiming that an outsider can not print the book and that it should be printed inside the Ministry.

"No one can cheat the Ministry Secretary. One person cannot take a decision on a subject or subject area either," he said.
