Prez approves giving COVID vaccine to teachers next week: GL
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has approved providing the COVID vaccine for teachers next week, Education Minister, Professor GL Peiris said.
Addressing the media today, he said following the vaccination program the Ministry is hoping to vaccinate 242,000 teachers.
A lengthy special discussion was held with President Rajapaksa yesterday regarding the re-opening of schools.
The teachers will feel more secure after completing the vaccination program.
Parents will be able to send their children to school with confidence, the Minister said.
The Minister added that once the vaccination program is completed, it will be safe to re-open schools later this month. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
