Prevailing showery condition expected to continue further: Met Dept.

The prevailing showery conditions in the South-Western part of the island are expected to continue further, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said today.

They said showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-Western Provinces as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Heavy showers of about 75mm can be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle, Matara, and Puttalam districts. But a few showers will occur in the Anuradhapura district.

Strong winds up to 50 kmph can be expected at times in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

Showers may occur at a few places in the Badulla, Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
