President to address the nation

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to address the nation at 8.30 p.m. today (30).

According to the President’s Media Division, the President is expected to outline the ongoing rescue and relief operations being carried out in response to the prevailing situation.

Expect some talk to take you into a world of dreams. But in reality, some if those affected by flood did not even receive a lunch packet from this pacha government. Now tge recovery operations will be very tricky . Also expect passing the blame on Rajapakshas for this disaster.

May be he will announce a new tax to meet recovery efforts. Tax will be implemented but no real recovery efforts will take place.

Mr. President; in your address do mention the steps to release the lands occupied by armed forces to the respective people in the North and East. You have an obligation on this and should be expedited. Secondly, please make sure sub titles are provided in Tamil and English for your speech.

AS WE ALL KNOW PEOPLE IN COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD ARE INTERESTED TO KNOW LIVE UPDATES AND OR MESSAGES IF IN SINHALA (VITAL IT IS TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH AT ALL TIMES). CITIZENS HAVE FAMILY LIVING OVERSEAS AND NOT EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS THE SINHALA THAT IS SPOKEN AT IMPORTANT EVENTS, OTHER THAN KNOWING SPOKEN SINHALA.

I am thankful for a dedicated job carried out by you. However the Government who were engaged in petty fights have missed the repeated warnings given and have been caught unprepared leading to loss of lives. The students at the Peradeniya faculty did not have any prewarning nor follow up action. The minister from jaffna was seen visiting upcountry in a cowboy suit. The Prime Minister and the top Ministers should be asked to pay Rs,100 Miilion each for ignoring adequate warnings which would have resulted in less damage and loss of lives. It is urgent we analyse the real cause and prevent environmental damage which have been lightly taken by successive Governments.
