Colombo, Jan.13 (Daily Mirror)- President Ranil Wickremesinghe has left for Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting which will commence on 15 January 2024 in Davos-Klosters in Switzerland.
The World Economic Forum is a global platform where the world’s key decision-makers get together at the beginning of the year to shape the political, economic, social and environmental agendas.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs said representatives from over 1,000 governments, international organizations, global companies, civil society, academic institutions and media will be attending the Forum.
"During the visit, President Wickremesinghe will deliver the keynote address on “Paving the way towards an Energy Secure Sri Lanka'' at the Green Tech Forum organized by the Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce. The President will also attend the Business Roundtable organized by the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka with the Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce. A business delegation will accompany the President on the visit.
On the sidelines, the President is expected to have bilateral meetings with his counterparts of a number of countries as well as key business leaders. The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland is coordinating the visit of the President," the Ministry said.

Unlike the Finance Minister Basil and MaRa in 2020 - 2022, who did nothing to control the Runaway exchange rate decline and Uncontrollably rising Inflation, RW is doing his job, and the reason the country's economy is turning around for the better!!!??? He increased Vat to 18% for his foreign trips.An unelected President has to manage the economy till SL recovers from its backdrops and also gets stable.Now he is unable to travel out of Colombo to any province for his mismanagement. People are paying American Tax and living Somalia life with one or two food consumption because poor people cannot afford to buy vegetables and other commodities,school books medicines etc.Just representing SL in World Forums, will it yield any fruits to SL.

Most people commenting here seem to be either have absolutely no idea as why this country went bankrupt. MR and Clan took loans at exorbitant interest rates for white elephant projects. Eventually unable to be keep up with payments we took loans on top of loans. ISB, hedging all of these contributed to the economic crisis. Today you have petroleum and food thanks to this man who took on a job no one wanted. Even the so called intellectuals from the NPP and SJB got cold feet. Whoever comes to power will bend you over and drive the proverbial screw where the sun doesn’t shine. Then you will wish you had this man.
