President leaves for Cuba, USA

President Ranil Wickremesinghe left Katunayake Airport early this morning for a visit to Cuba and the USA.

He is to participate first in the G-77 Head of State Summit, which will be held from September 15 to 16 in Havana, Cuba.

Subsequently, he is scheduled to address the Heads of State Conference of the 78th Annual Session of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States from September 19 to 21.

He was accompanied by a delegation and left Katunayake Airport for Dubai at 03.15 am today on Emirates flight EK-649.

From Dubai, the President and his delegation will leave for the USA on another flight. (T.K.G. Kapila)

In Cuba he will pledge our country’s undying friendship and allegiance and in return he will get some handshakes and maybe kisses. In the US he will do the same and maybe we will get more free medicines, food and some US dollars

Review of high spending ministries must begin with the finance ministry. Every 2 weeks the finance minister finds some country to visit. He also carries baggage in the form of officials. Money for these excursions is recovered by taxing the people. Come Finance Minister practice what you preach and advocate to others.

I'm not a fan of politicians. RW has being there all thru our lifetime on the sidlines (in and out) to reach where he is. However, he's a survivor and the only person that has really put his hands up to do something for the country when all yappy mouth washes have stunk the island into a dump site.
