Colombo, April 21 (Daily Mirror) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake extended his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people of Sri Lanka following the passing away of His Holiness Pope Francis.

“His unwavering commitment to peace, compassion and humanity has left an indelible mark on the world. May his legacy of compassion, justice and interfaith harmony continue to inspire generations to come,” the President said.

Even if the president is an atheist, the diplomatic rules regarding the death of a head of state require it. The papal office is that of an absolutist ruling monarch, incidentally the last one in Europe.

Wow, our president is so efficient in extending condolences on passing away of the pope! We would have appreciated it if the president had shown this level alacrity in busting the rice mafia at a stroke of a pen, reducing price of fuel by 150, bringing the stolen money hidden in Uganda back to Sri Lanka, cancelled the IMF agreement, named the Easter Sunday attack mastermind by 21 April, put Arjun Mahendran behind bars, removed all the benefits of former presidents and their spouses, reduced electricity tariffs by 30%, removed VAT of all essential goods, providing employment for unemployed graduates, allowing us to import a vehicle for about 1.2 million, halting the Sampur power project, repealed the PTA, etc.

You need add couple or more. Reducing the public sector by one fourth. Shutting down srilankan air line. Lowering cost of living. No imports of vehicles. All vehicles that were repossessed to be auctioned. No vehicles for mp ees.. Shutting down the parliament canteen. To put all the politicians behind bars who committed crimes with the help of the files he possess with evidence and proof.
