Poultry farmers to ignore price control on eggs

The All Ceylon Poultry Industrialists Association said today that it is not possible to sell eggs at the controlled prices set by the government.

Accordingly, All Ceylon Egg Suppliers Association had informed it's members not to sell an egg lesser than Rs. 55.

All Association President Sarath Ratnayake told media that Ministry of Livestock Development computes the production cost of an egg every month and the amount that have been computed for this month ranges from Rs. 49 to Rs 50.

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) on Friday gazetted the price of a white egg is Rs.43 and brown egg Rs 45.
