Police warn public on rising online shopping and courier scams

Colombo, March 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Police have issued a warning to the public to exercise caution when purchasing goods online or using courier services amid a rise in scams.

Police advise consumers to verify orders by contacting companies directly through their official telephone numbers. The public is also urged not to click on suspicious or unfamiliar links, especially messages requesting to “update details” via SMS or messaging platforms.

Police further cautioned that fraudsters are using fake websites designed to closely resemble legitimate platforms to steal personal and banking information.
