Police remove loudspeakers near Nugegoda exam venue

Colombo, Nov. 21 (Daily Mirror) - Several loudspeakers placed around Ananda Samarakoon Open Air Theatre in Nugegoda have been removed by the police, following concerns that the noise could negatively affect students sitting for the A/L examinations.

Despite the removal, authorities have issued special instructions for a public rally scheduled for today (21) at 2:00 p.m. in Nugegoda, regulating the use of sound amplification systems to ensure minimal disruption.

Police said the measures aim to balance public demonstrations with the need to maintain a quiet environment for exam candidates.

Answer No. If the organisers gave an undertaking to disconnect the speakers close to schools and activate them after 5.00pm I guess Police would have just waited. The organisers of the meeting I believe are waiting to place the blame on the government and the Police if attendance is poor

This comment is a good example of the thinking of the voting public, rotten mindset. The police should not be removing such devices, this is not a matter for the police, the organisers should remove such devices on presentation of a court order. The court order should be obtained by the examination board by presenting their case to the courts. Thats how it should be in civilised society.

YOU ARE WRONG, THE ALLIANCES ARE VERY AWARE OF THE EXAMS TIME THEY START AND FINISH. LOUD SPEAKERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED ONLY AFTER THE SCHOOL/'S INFORMED THE ORGANIZERS EXAMS WERE OVER AND LOUD SPEAKERS COULD BE ACTIVATED, TO BE SURE THAT ALL EXAMS AND PAPERS WERE COLLECTED AND STUDENTS WERE RELEASED TO LEAVE. ALL THESE LAME EXCUSES AND COMMENTS TO PROP UP THE ALLIANCES NOT GOING TO BRING ANY CREDIT TO THEM. LAST RESORT THE POLICE MAY HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO REMOVE THE LOUD SPEAKERS AND SO THEY SHOULD.
