Paramour arrested over sexual abuse of teenage girl

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) arrested a man for sexually abusing  a 15-year-old girl from Colombo yesterday.

The NCPA also arrested the mother of the girl for aiding and abetting the suspect to commit the felony.

Investigation revealed that the arrested suspect was the paramour of the suspect woman.

The suspects were arrested following a complaint lodged with the Special Investigation Unit of the NCPA.

NCPA Chairman Prof. Muditha Vidanapathirana said both suspects were remanded till July 17 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.

Prof. Vidanapathirana urges mothers to act responsibly and with caution to protect their daughters from such abuse. (DSB)
