PTF to prevent spread of drugs among University, schoolchildren: Bandula

Cabinet of Ministers yesterday approved a proposal to appoint a Presidential Task Force (PTF) to prevent the widespread use of dangerous drugs including ICE among university and schoolchildren, Minister Bandula Gunawardena said today.

He told Parliament that the Cabinet had a lengthy discussion over the attack on former Vice Chancellor of the Peradeniya University Prof. Athula Senaratne and his son.

The Minister said President Ranil Wickremesinghe told the Cabinet that he had called for a impartial investigation into the incident and submit a report. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

Appoint as many task forces as you can. Drug abuse among schoolchildren and university students will continue unabated. Incidentally, what have all these task forces and committees appointed by the president achieved? Exactly nothing.

PTF should punish all MPs who are involved in drug business...start from the top as Singaporeans have done ??this country is being destroyed not by any aliens rather by their own natives ..No loyal Sri Lankan politicians if they are true Sri Lankans would endors this drug business by their politicians..yet it is true that this drug culture was introduced into Sri Lanka with the political influence.. Police ; Navy and Army should consider the country first and catch all those politicians who are involved in this business.. Don't have any mercy on this ...next step is to wipe out it from our community: schools; colleges and universities..but start with big ones first

What goes around comes around like a boomerang. Soon after the end of the war in 2009, drugs were made freely available for the youth in the north. The intention was to addict the youth and destroy the future of minority groups. How quickly it is backfiring now.
