Over 600 cases reported in Colombo, Gampaha yesterday

Among the 2,845 COVID positive cases reported yesterday, Colombo and Gampaha districts had more than 600 cases apiece, while Gampaha recorded the highest, National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.

Accordingly, Gampaha with 654 cases and Colombo stood next with 646 and Kalutara and Kandy districts came next with 281 and 114 respectively. 

Jaffna recorded 148 and Batticoloa with 121 positive cases, the NOCPCO said.

The NOCPCO said the people who are serving home quarantine were included in yesterday's total number of cases.  

They said no cases were reported from the quarantine centres but one positive case was detected among foreign visitors.

Moreover, ten cases have been reported among the locals who returned to the island from overseas, the NOCPCO added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
