While claiming that they were not satisfied with promises alone, Nurses' Trade Unions said today they would resort to an island-wide trade union action on Friday (9) if the two Cabinet papers pertaining to promotions and staff status were not approved on Monday (5) as promised by the President.
Government Nursing Officers Association Chairman Saman Rathnapriya said the intervention of the President in their grievances was positive and they accepted it.
However, he said they were not satisfied with the postponement of most of their demands to the next budget.
He said the two Cabinet papers pertaining to promotions and staff status should be approved by the Cabinet on Monday and publish them in a circular by Wednesday.
