No reason to panic but be aware: Met. Department

Colombo, Dec. 4 (Daily Mirror) - There is no reason for panic about the Northeast monsoon as it will not bring in heavy rains though it is expected to become more active within the coming days, the Department of Meteorology said yesterday.

"The Northeast Monsoon is active usually within the month of December. It usually results in evening showers especially in the North, East and Central Province and sometimes extends up to Uva as well,” The Department of Meteorology Duty Forecaster Udeni Weerasinghe told Daily Mirror.

Meanwhile the Department refuted clams that another depression is developing in the vicinity of Sri Lanka. “There is no reason to fear,” Ms. Weerasinghe said.
