Huh. The number of medicine places much the same, and engineering still the same too. All this shuffling won't affect how really capable students achieve. This seems just window dressing to appease a few grieved parents, when our country has significant problems already with the education system. MPs like Bandula Gunawadane was staunchly against English medium for the early grades during the Yahapalanya government times. The then Minister of Education, of course had plenty of faults of his own like egoistically having his own name put in government issued books. However, it is still more overly nationalistic MPs like Bandula who keep the country from moving forward. Their archaic view that Sinhala and Tamil language are supreme. Ignoring what's really needed in this country to transform. More capable English speakers, better able to connect up intellectually with the rest of the world for the earning purpose.
