Navy seizes Indian fishing trawler with nine fishermen for poaching in SL waters



Mannar, July 23 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Navy seized an Indian fishing trawler and apprehended nine Indian fishermen during a special search operation conducted today after they were found engaging in poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Mannar, having crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

According to the Navy, a group of Indian fishing trawlers was spotted engaging in poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters. 

During the operation, one Indian fishing trawler was seized, while nine Indian fishermen on board were taken into custody.

The apprehended fishermen and the seized trawler were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Mannar for onward legal proceedings.
