Namal criticizes Govt for ignoring professionals in 2026 budget planning

Colombo, Nov. 18 (Daily Mirror) - National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Namal Rajapaksa, has criticized the government for disregarding the concerns of professionals and the public, following a meeting with the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA).

Addressing the media after the meeting, Rajapaksa said the 2026 Budget proposals should have been prepared in consultation with relevant authorities.

“The budget should have been formulated considering all aspects, not merely the interests of those with political connections,” he said, adding that the government had failed to fulfill promises made in previous budget proposals.

Rajapaksa also highlighted ongoing issues affecting doctors and other professionals, warning of a potential shortage of medical personnel in the future due to a lack of investment in human resources. He criticized the government for failing to plan for infrastructure development and stressed that without addressing the needs of all sectors, the country risks systemic collapse.
