NPP requests police to facilitate its rally in Tangalle: Opposition MP

Colombo, Nov. 19 (Daily Mirror) - The National People's Power (NPP) has sought the assistance of the police to facilitate its rally to be held in Tangalle tomorrow, Opposition MP D.V. Chanaka alleged today. 

The MP said a letter has been submitted to all police divisions in the South to mobilise people to attend the NPP rally. 

"The letter has been sent to police divisions in Galle, Matara and other areas. Also, they have been asked to arrange food for the people who are to attend the rally," he added. 

Furthermore, the MP said  representatives of the police have been asked to place their signatures citing the number of people they would mobilise for the rally," he added. 

Several MPs from the government, including Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala, denied the allegation and said the government has never exerted any influence on the police.
