Elpitiya, Dec 16 (Daily Mirror) - Public Security Minister Tiran Alles said that a special operation targeting drug-related activities and the underworld is set to commence tomorrow.
Minister Alles has directed Police to take stringent measures against individuals engaged in drug smuggling and underworld operations.
The Minister made these directives during a community police committee meeting in the Elpitiya Division held this morning.
A group of senior officers, including Acting Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon attended the meeting.
Minister Alles urged the public to actively support the police force in their efforts to combat drug-related crimes and underworld activities.
"I have given the police until June 30 only. By June 30, there should be a complete change in the drug and underworld activities in this country," he said.

How much minister's big bosses want this to happen? This Govt's existance depend on their safety and their earnings. Prompt operations will be like prompt purchasing in govt. sector. Never stop drugs coming into the country with the support of the agents of big bosses. Kansa-cry legal exports will return as value added drugs. Police alone cannot make this a success within a specified timeframe.

He should answer the nation how he has arranged fund for LTTE to stop voting of Tamil people from north in the election which was held years ago in which Rangoja won the election. You can stop drug abuse by curtailing the imports and not by curtailing the small type drug dealers and drug users.Boy first remove your IGP who was fined by the Judiciary for violating the law.

To reveal where all crimes involving drugs and illegal export/import of gold etc., ALL in public service must be given a deadline to submit their declaration of assets here and abroad. 50% of drug peddling will come to a halt immediately. The glaring disparity between income and assets points to all misdemeanours.
