Colombo, Dec. 5 (Daily Mirror) - The Defence Secretary has summoned the head of the Meteorological Department to his office and had threatened him, asking him to refrain from making statements to the media, Opposition MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara told Parliament today.

"How can the Department of Meteorology refrain from issuing warnings on impending natural disasters," the MP asked.

Exactly! These “misfits” are not getting publicity as more attention are being given to the government’s good work towards improving the relief effort. The opposition are not assisting the government and they want the officials to have internal fights. Most of the left educated citizen knows the magnitude of the disaster which is no child’s play! They should be charged in court for causing duress to already challenging situation.

Government should resign and go home. This is a total failure of the government and now they are trying to hide under the carpet and also blame officials. Opposition should stand with the officers and give them legal support.
