Man in ’Aswesuma’ queue dies

A 77-year-old man who was waiting in a queue to obtain the 'Aswesuma' relief at the Ella Divisional Secretariat, collapsed and died.

The man had taken ill suddenly and collapsed on the ground and was found dead on examination.

The body was taken to the Badulla Hospital by the police and Divisional Secretariat officials for a post-mortem inquest.

How many innocent people have lost their lives in queues by now??!! Who is responsible for these??? Why is it that Absolutely no action has been taken against those who robbed the nation and the lives of the people??!!! Reducing the price of bread by 10/- or a koththu by another 10/- or a plain tea is not the solution for this misery. It's a hand to mouth existence and people's sufferings are immeasurable! Prices of EVERYTHING is 3 to 4 times more but did our salaries increase 3 or 4 times more in order to.meet this exorbitant increase?? The rich seem to manage it somehow, and the poor has taken to begging but what about the middle class??? They are not entitled or qualified to any relief that the government is giving. People have many needs, not just eating dhal, rice and potatoes. A piece of sunlight soap is 150/-! How long can a piece of soap be used in a family of 5 or 6?? There's a limit to cutting down on "needs", forget about the wants!! Honestly is there no solution to this??
