Mainly fair weather to prevail across island

Colombo, April 26 (Daily Mirror) - Mainly fair weather will prevail over most parts of the island, the Meteorology Department said.

They said misty conditions can be expected in the early hours of the morning in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, and in the Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts.

However, showers expected at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts after 2.00 p.m.

The general public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Rainfall is categorized as follows: light (0–12.5 mm), light to moderate (12.5–25 mm), moderate (25–50 mm), fairly heavy (50–100 mm), heavy (100–150 mm), and very heavy (over 150 mm).
