MP Ramanathan Archchuna remanded

Colombo, April 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Mallakam Magistrate’s Court ordered that Member of Parliament Ramanathan Archchuna be remanded in custody until 29 April.

Ramanathan Archchuna, who had gone to the Ilavalai Police Station in Jaffna this morning to give a statement regarding an incident in which he is accused of threatening a woman at gunpoint over a land dispute, was arrested by the police.

Following this, the pistol that had been issued to him was taken into police custody. He was later produced before the Mallakam Magistrate’s Court today.

In this context, the court ordered that MP Ramanathan  Archchuna be remanded until 29 April.

Of the two individuals who were reportedly threatened by Ramanathan Archchuna, one has already been remanded until the 29th, while the other is currently receiving treatment at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
