While allocating more funds than in 2023, the Education Ministry is systematically increasing the allowances for school uniforms and lunch for schoolchildren by 2030, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

While being the chief guest at the agricultural exhibition held at Mullathivu Mallavi Middle School, the Minister said it has been decided to provide school lunch free of charge to all school students.

However, discussions related to making provisions for increasing allowances are currently being conducted with the relevant parties, including the French government, Minister Premajayantha said.

He also emphasized that attention should be paid to maintaining the educational activities of the children without interruptions and expects everyone's support to continue the sustainable education programme. (Chaturnaga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
