Lottery ticket price reversed to Rs. 20

The controversial lottery price issue had come to an end a short while ago as President Maithripala Sirisena had instructed to reverse the price of a lottery ticket back to Rs.20.

Countrywide protests were carried out by the dealers and sales agentssince December last year as a result of the lottery ticket price hikefrom Rs. 20 to 30.

A budget proposal was made by the Finance Ministry last year to increase the prices of lottery. (Thilanka Kanakarathna)

what a big problem solved for the poor man to gamble away 20 rupees with his pay packet where every penny counts and this is only a game of chance ..making the lotto take the big winning . A sudu keliya that can turn a person to an addict hoping for the big win to come with the next ticket . and the family has to budget for this too!

When liqueur and tobacco prices sent up the revenue came down. And the complaint when lottery price increased was that the revenue on sales would come down. The ruling by Prez. has no uniformity as the latter too is an anti social element. via DM Android App
