Local government elections should not be postponed, Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today.
“Who is going to postpone the local government elections? Elections are not meant to be postponed. We opine that the election should go ahead as scheduled,” he told journalists in Parliament.
The former President came out with this remark as opposition MPs staged a protest inside the chamber against the anticipated postponement of local government polls. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
