Three persons were killed after being struck by lightning while they were fishing in the Thammenna Wewa in the Mihintale police area.

Police said the victims, aged 44, 45 and 46, were struck by lightning while sitting on the bank of the weva and died after admission to the Thammenna hospital yesterday.

They were residents of the Ganguruwa and Seeppukulama areas.
