‘Kudu Dileepa’ arrested with firearms

A notorious drug trafficker known as Dilip Tharanga Hettiarachchi, alias ’Kudu Dileepa’, has been arrested with two firearms by the STF in Wellampitiya.

Police said the suspect was arrested during a raid carried out on Saturday following a tip-off.

Initially, the STF recovered a foreign-made pistol from the suspect's possession. During the search of the suspect's house at Wellampitiya, the STF found an air riffle and three swords.

He was later handed over to the Wellampitiya police.

The raid was carried out by an STF team led by CI Nadeeka Silva on the direction of the STF Commandant Senior DIG M.R. Latheef. (DSB)
