In light of extreme weather conditions, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) requests residents in disaster areas to keep their mobile phones charged at all times as an active mobile connection will help assist in the event of a disaster.
Director General of the DMC Major General (Retd.) Sudantha Ranasinghe said incidents related to adverse weather conditions have been reported from 19 Divisional Secretaries across 07 districts, the said.
“At least 1,872 individuals from 428 families have been affected by extreme weather over the past five days,” he stated.
“We request residents in disaster areas, and disaster prone areas to keep their mobile phones charged at all times. "An active mobile connection will help us assist in the event of a disaster,” he added.
