Injured Dushmantha Chameera to return from England

Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera has sustained an injury to his lower back and will be returning to Sri Lanka for further treatment and rest, the SLC said today.

It said Chameera underwent a MRI/CT Scan this morning, which has indicated a stress fracture to his lower back and medical recommendation is treatment and rest for as much as four months.

Last week, medium-fast bowler Dhammika Prasad also returned to Sri Lanka with an injury to his shoulder and is currently undergoing treatment.

The SLC said National Selectors headed by Sanath Jayasuriya will meet within the next 24 hours to decide on a suitable replacement.

Hmm mm this is all too common with every promising genuine fast bowler coming from Sri Lanka...Once after the injury and treatment they are never the same...speed drops to below 130...and they fade off....I think before making debut they must go through an academy like in Australia where bowlers are given strength training and advice on fitness etc...

Best place to be here in SL.... good move chameera! The problem with SL cricket is that we never want to understand and clear the root issue... rather do patch work and create half baked players who either perform or fade away one or two games. Rest take ages to mature and when they do, they have no time left to play..,. We cannot create players like kholi, miller, raina, root, et el, unless we have a good breeding system domestically.

Upul Tharanga deserves to go even as a replacement.If the selectors have sent Kusal Janith (wrong selection) as Dhammika Prasad's replacement, this time they might sent a spinner or a wicket keeper.
