Immigration officer among two arrested over forged visa

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprehended a female and an officer attached to the Department of Immigration and Emigration, for their involvement in an attempt to leave the country using a forged visa at the Bandaranaike International Airport today.

Preliminary investigations uncovered that the Immigration officer had assisted the female to leave the country with the forged visa. 

After the suspects were produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court, the female was granted bail, while the Immigration officer was remanded till August 11.
