The identity of the Sri Lankan female who was reportedly killed in the Israel conflict had not been established yet, the Sri Lankan ambassador in Israel told the Daily Mirror today.
“Although her relatives confirmed that the woman identified as Mrs. Anula Ratnayake died during the violence in Israel on Saturday morning, it can only be confirmed after the dead body is identified and determined,” Ambassador Nimal Bandara told Daily Mirror.
"So until then the concerned person is known as a missing person,” the Ambassador said.
He said that he had requested the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist in identifying the bodies of those who have died in the hospitals of the respective areas.
“Since there are military operations in the southern region of Israel, we will gain access for examination and an identification purpose only after the military has secured the area," he said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrema)
