Colombo, Oct. 8 (Daily Mirror) - A huge scam has been uncovered in the printing of driving licences by a single private company for more than two decades, Minister of Transport Bimal Ratnayake told Parliament today.

He said there has been a large scale wastage of funds through awarding the contract to print driving licences to a single company.

He said the cost of printing a driving licence has been Rs. 534.54 when done by the private company while the RMV could print one for the cost of Rs. 367.

"We have decided that driving licences will be printed by the Department for Registration of Motor Vehicles (RMV). Printing machines are being installed for the purpose," the Minister revealed.
