Highest single-day COVID patients for 2023 reported during weekend
The highest daily total of COVID-19 patients was reported on Saturday (06), registering 13 confirmed cases, according to the daily situation report of the Epidemiology Unit.
However, the health authorities urged people not to panic as the situation is not alarming.
"We are monitoring the situation as there are always possibilities of a spike in fresh cases. Nevertheless, there is zero chance of leading to a massive wave as people are immunized against the Coronavirus through a successful vaccination drive," they said.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, a total of 672,221 persons have been so far infected with the virus, while 16,847 have become victims of the virus since the pandemic started. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
