Heavy rains exceeding 100 mm in WP, several other places: Met. Dept.
Heavy showers exceeding 100 mms could be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, the Meteorology Department said today.
It said there is a possibility of the prevailing showery condition enhancing in the South-Western parts of the island during September 1, 2 and 3.
"Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Eastern and Uva Province and in the Polonnaruwa, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts during the evening or night.
The Department said showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-Western Provinces.
Director General of the Meteorology Department Athula Karunanayake advised paddy farmers to refrain from harvesting during September 1, 2 and 3 due to possible rains.
