The hearing of Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka's case, involving allegations of sexual assault, has concluded in the New South Wales District Court. Australian media has confirmed that Judge Sarah Huggett will deliver her verdict on September 28th.
Gunathilaka, a renowned cricket star, has been on trial at the Downing Centre District Court for the past four days. He pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual assault without consent.
The charge stems from an incident that allegedly occurred on November 2nd, 2022. It is claimed that the 32-year-old engaged in stealthing, where he removed a condom during sexual intercourse, with a woman at her residence in Sydney's east.
The pair initially met at the Opera Bar near the Sydney Opera House, as captured by CCTV footage showing them embracing. They then proceeded to have drinks together in the city before taking a ferry back to the woman's home.
