Hands off independent media: Sajith tells government
Colombo, Dec. 26 (Daily Mirror)- Alleging that there is a move to suppress the independent media, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said today that all steps will be taken by his party to prevent such a move.
"It looks like the government is out to convert Sri Lanka into a police state and create a dictatorship. We will take every possible steps to prevent such a move," he said.
He said the media is the fourth pillar which safeguards the democracy of a nation together with the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary.
Also, he alleged that a police state is being created today.
