Colombo, April 24 (Daily Mirror) - Whilst the government seemed to be totally confused when it comes to handling the economy, it has been successful in uttering falsehoods to the gullible public, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr. Harsha de Silva said yesterday.

However, he said the government seemed to be doing a good job in fighting corruption, though nothing has been done about the e-visa scam.

“On fighting corruption, I think they are doing a good job, even though nothing has happened to the e-visa scam that I fought hard to stop. On the economy, they are totally confused. A classic case of a parish priest preaching bana at a temple. On the one hand, they are saying they will reduce tariffs to open the nation for global trade, but at the same time arguing for higher tariffs to encourage import substitution,” Dr. de Silva told Daily Mirror.

“Calling for investments in transmission and distribution of energy, but rolling back the reforms to facilitate the same. Regarding SriLankan Airlines, they have flip-flopped for the second time, now saying no private investments but will expand the scope using public funds. Their most successful strategy is to utter absolute falsehoods to the gullible public,” he added.

Yes, e-Visa scandal needs to be investigated seriously. But on the hold, NPP is levelling up on keeping the country intact. Lots of garbage left behind by previous regimes NPP is clearing up only now. Those in previous regimes can’t accept what NPP is doing now as they are so accustomed and accepted all the corruptions and malpractices over the decades. So long it benefited them and their immediate families and friends, allowed these malpractices to continue until the meltdown in 2022! NPP is more for the people and country in general and will definitely continue and get the house in order in time. My guess is by 2027, will see some concrete progress.

Dr. you are in a place led by a junior who went under the desk during socio-economy melt down in SL, if there was a leader who you expect to lead , that would've been the time for leader to rise from the rubble. that's the quality of a leader , surely Bus driving / playing guitar and cricket / bit of jap will not close enough for qualification. you have to have guts over fear!!!! so better you get some rest until your team realise it. must say this too , you are a good decent man who should remain in Politics , that's for sure , your time will come, so wait and nail it but do your ground work first .
