Parliament, January 21 (Daily Mirror)- The government will allocate Rs. 1,437 million through the Budget 2025 for coconut cultivation in the northern coconut triangle, Plantation and Community Infrastructure Minister Samantha Vidyaratne said today.
He told Parliament that the government has planned to cultivate coconut trees in 40,000 hectares in the northen province and that Rs. 1,437 million has been requested to be allocated from the 2025 budget.
The Minister said while responding to a question by MP Ajith Gihan that the government has decided to provide free fertiliser for coconut cultivations less than five hectares in the country.
He also said a decision has been taken to allocate 27,500 metric tonnes of the stock of 55,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser recieved from Russia for coconut cultivation.
