Give priority to international donor conference: SJB

Colombo, Dec. 5 (Daily Mirror) - The government should give priority to holding an international donor conference in order to get assistance from foreign countries to rebuild the nation, an Opposition MP said today.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S.M. Marikkar told a media briefing that the government should focus on getting international help to rebuild the nation.

“It has been reported that Rs. 900 billion is needed to rebuild infrastructure facilities which were damaged by the recent disaster. Therefore, the priority should be holding an international donor conference,” he said.

SL cannot be always begging. Our country faced two disasters. First corrupt politicians made the economic disaster the Second Climatic natural disasters. With the funds and the materials flowing to the new govt and the SL people from abroad we do not need such a conference because people abroad and the foreign countries have trust and sympathy over SL people.

What is wrong with these minions from the SJB and UNP? They have an inferiority complex to portray themselves as "internationally connected." Nobody else can source foreign funds apart from Sajith and Ranil??? The actual reality is that no investor or donor allocate funds for the so-called vocabulary of the said losers for 76 years (except for Lakshman Kadiragama). Just float a 10-year Infrastructure Bond secured by exports. There's an appetite in major Western markets for it.

Mr Marrikar you and your party are full of advice and rhetoric and past your use by date. "Empty vessels make the biggest noise " and you are one of them. You want the govt to convene an international conference to get more foreign aid when your own party is divided and in tatters. "Charity begins at home " so why not you and your party get more serious and involve yourselves in helping the millions affected n Sri Lanka. That would be a step in the right direction.
