Gampaha dist. will face critical situation within next two weeks: GMOA

An unexpected critical situation will be created in the Gampaha district with the increase of COVID infected cases in the area within the next two weeks, the Government Medical officers' Association (GMOA) said.

GMOA Secretary Dr. Shenal Fernando said 80% among the persons visited the Physiotherapy Division of the Negombo hospital last Friday (14) were tested COVID positive proven by PCR tests.

With this current critical situation, there is a possibility of collapse in health services in the hospital network in the Gampaha district.

Therefore, the GMOA has taken immediate action to collect the daily medical reports of the doctors in the hospitals and health services officials in the district.

Dr. Fernando said their Association had informed the Health Services Director General, the President and the Health Minister about this critical situation. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
