Colombo, Dec. 5 (Daily Mirror) - The government will provide Rs. 5 million as compensation for fully damaged houses, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced today.
He told Parliament that a plot of land will be provided by the government if someone's land has been completely lost due to landslides.
The President said if a government land is not available in a particular locality, an additional Rs. 5 million will be provided to purchase a plot of land.
He said steps will be taken to identify government lands available in affected areas with the assistance of the District and Divisional Secretariats.
The President said compensation subjected to a maximum of Rs. 2.5 million will be provided for partially damaged houses.
