Whilst stating that Russia's entry into Ukraine will adversely affect Sri Lanka, Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said fuel and LNG prices were set to increase further in the global market.

He urged the government to take steps to purchase the three fuel shipments berthed in the Sri Lankan ports saying that they coule be purchased at the previous price.

" Sri Lanka will be affected adversely as price of oil set to increase upto dollars 115. Also Sri Lanka is not going to get adequate stocks of LNG as Europe had ordered large stocks from Qutar following the situation in Ukraine," Mr. Wickremesinghe said.

He urged the Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa to make a statement on the situation. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
