Four including two children killed in two separate road accidents

Four individuals including two teenagers were killed in two separate road accidents in Madampe and Minuwangoda involving motorbikes last night, Police said.

They said a 48-year-old man and his 16-year-old daughter were killed when a lorry plying towards Kuliyapitiya from Madampe collided against the motorbike from behind.

The injured father and daughter were admitted to the Chilaw Hospital and later transferred to the Kurunegala Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased are residents of Madampe.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old mother and her 15-year-old son were killed when their motorbike hit a container truck while trying to overtake it at Ambagahawatte on the Minuwangoda-Ja Ela road last night.

They are residents of Minuwangoda.

The driver of the container truck was arrested in connection with accident.

Hitting from the back is a severe offence and careless driving. Severe punishment should be meted out to the perpetrator of the accident.
