Four-hour water cut in several Kandy areas today

Colombo, July 22 (Daily Mirror) - The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced that water supply to several areas in Kandy will be temporarily suspended for four hours today (22) due to essential maintenance work at the Kandy Main Water Supply Project.

Accordingly, the water supply interruption will be in effect from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

The NWSDB said areas supplied by the Rajapihilla Service Reservoir will be affected, including Uduwawala, Polwatte Road, Glewatte, Wasgewatte, Uda and Palle Bokalawala, Piha Oyewatte, Ahasliyada, Kotuwewatte, Nagahamula Road, Thawalangoda, Balagolla, Hapugoda, Pattiyawatte, Rajapihilla, Moragahawela, Attaragama, Ulladupitiya Road, Poharabetenna Road and Attaragama Dekinda Road.

Areas under the Old Medawala Service Reservoir, including Kevumkohe Road, Gonigoda, Jayanthi Road, Gurukate, Palkumbura, Idamegama, Ambegama, Gorokgasanga Road, Elamalpatha, Kotuthenna, Pethiyagodawatta, Kaluwana, Bothota, Harankahatenna, Dodamthenna, Kumburegedara, Dembaralova, Thibbutta and Thalapellegoda Road, will also experience the disruption.

The water interruption will further affect areas supplied by the New Medawala Service Reservoir, including Batugoda, Ehelagashinna, Diddeniya, Owissa, Watagoda, Dombagammana, Hadeniya, Suriyakumbura, Ambaruppa, Harankahawa, Bokkawala, Walathenna and Pathirada.

The NWSDB said water supply will also be suspended in areas covered by the Galagedara Service Reservoir, including Galagedara, Webada, Boyagoda, Rambukkana Road, Poholiyadda Road and Kurunegala Road.

The Mawathagama Service Area, including Mawathagama, Barandana Road and Rambukkana Road, will also be affected during the maintenance period.

The NWSDB requested residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and make necessary arrangements until normal supply is restored.
