Colombo, Nov. 12 (Daily Mirror) - Deputy Minister Aravinda Senarath told Parliament today that several former ministers who previously oversaw the Land Ministry had distributed state lands among their family members and relatives.
He further alleged that some ministers had even taken over lands for personal gem mining activities.
The Deputy Minister also revealed that lands acquired under the Land Reforms Act No. 1 of 1972 had not been properly surveyed. “No one knows exactly how many acres were taken over under this Act in 1972,” he added.
