Former MP Nishantha Muthuhettigama remanded

Former Member of Parliament Nishantha Muthuhettigama has been remanded by the Galle Chief Magistrate until September 21.

The decision came after Muthuhettigama was accused of illegally assembling a jeep. The court has ordered him to remain in custody until the next hearing.

I think the legal system needs to be updated to save resources and money. Think the money wasted here. Just a travel ban may do. Parliament should make sure to update laws to speed up process and save time. I know a friend who has given a property for rent. Now the tenants are not leaving even though they have a signed agreement. He had to go to courts and now has visited several times without any decision given. When things like this happen then people will try to solve problems in different ways and could even endup with a bloodbath. Luckily my friend has enough patience otherwise guess the result. Same with land related laws. Always trying to waste time and try to help who create trouble rather than peaceful citizens.
