Follow Australia, India; give concessions to people: Joint Opposition

Colombo, April 1 (Daily Mirror) - Representatives of a number of opposition political parties today urged the government to follow other countries such as India and Australia and give concessions to the people by slashing taxes on fuel.

Former MPs Patali Champika Ranawaka, Rajitha Senaratne, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Wajira Abeywardena, former Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and sitting MP Dayasiri Jayasekera made this common request from the government during a joint media briefing today.

When you see the names of the johnnie's of joint opposition (including some half convicted rogues), the whole story can be considered as a nonsense. These illiterate morons think that we are on par with Australia and India. Those countries can afford to do that.... we are still way behind and under IMF custody thanks to the Rajapakshes. The country could have done those slashing if we had the background to do it. Go and learn economics from the beginning and have a media conference.
