Fairly heavy showers likely even today

Heavy showers of about 50mm are likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Puttalam, Galle and Matara districts today, the Meteorology Department said.

While issuing a weather forecast for today, the department said showers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.

Meanwhile, a few showers would occur in the Anuradhapura and Mannar districts, they said.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Batticaloa and Ampara districts during the evening or night.

Fairly strong winds up to 45 kmph can be expected on the western slopes of the central hills, in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
